Think Before You Wash
Over half of discarded clothes end up in landfills or incinerated. By making small changes in how we care for clothes, we can extend their life and reduce waste.
Washing Responsibly
- Wash only when necessary — airing or spot cleaning often works.
- Wool is self-cleaning: spot clean and use a sweater comb for pilling.
- Denim needs washing just a few times a year
Tips for the wash:
- Turn clothes inside out before washing.
- Wash full loads at low temperatures & spin cycles.
- Use eco-labelled detergents.
- Use a laundry bag for delicate or synthetic fabrics to reduce microfibres.
- Air-dry clothes whenever possible. Tumble-dry only if necessary, and only full loads.
- Iron or steam only when needed.
- Fold knitwear instead of hanging to keep shape.
Dry Cleaning
- Only dry-clean if absolutely necessary.
- Choose cleaners that offer eco-friendly alternatives like wet cleaning or CO₂ cleaning.
Repair vs Replace
- Always repair before replacing.
- BRDR items can be returned for repair — we’ll do our best to mend them.
Share the Love
- Don’t throw away unwanted clothes.
- Pass them on to friends, family, secondhand shops, or charities.
